Studies
Recently there have some studies to determine the effect of acupuncture on assisted reproductive therapies. The outcomes have all been positive. One such study was conducted by the Christian-Lauritzen- Institute in Ulm, Germany. A total of 160 healthy women undergoing treatment with IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) were recruited. Each person in the experimental group (80) received acupuncture before and after embryo transfer. The analysis showed that the pregnancy rate for the acupuncture group was considerably higher than for the control group. (42.5% vs. 26.3%). Another study was done in Sweden to show the effects of acupuncture with electrical stimulation on uterine blood flow impedance. Again, the results were positive. The acupuncture treatments significantly increased blood flow to the uterus.
