MASSAGE vs. STRESS
The danger of stress is that in our society we are encouraged to “just deal with it”. This creates a problem because the brain has the ability to differentiate between stressors, but the rest of the body does not. For example, many people feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities in the work place. Often, people feel as though someone else is trying to out-perform them. This can create a sense of worry or stress. As a person “just deals with it”, the systems of the body interpret the stress as a fight or flight situation. This is bad because these systems conserve energy so that the body can be ready to fight or fly. “Just dealing with it” is, for many, the only choice available. It is important that these people employ stress management tools, like massage.
Massage has a wide variety of effects and benefits. Massage not only feels good and helps people to relax, but it also makes many contributions toward a healthy body.
